Here's to Mr & Mrs Cheatham!
We knew there was a ton of love between these two before we had even met Brittney. Cody had inquired about having us capture engagement photos of them at Monument Circle in Indianapolis, IN after he proposed to Brittney earlier in the day at their house. Sitting at that Starbucks in Carmel, it was easy to see how much this man loved his lady. He had everything planned down...and I mean EVERYTHING! Not only did he surprise her with a gorgeous Tiffany & Co. engagement ring (which he hid in an Xbox box), but he also bought her a beautiful plum dress, shocked her with spur of the moment engagement photos in the pouring rain and dinner at St. Elmo's Steakhouse in Indy. I'll be honest...I tried talking him out of it. But not in the way you're thinking! We met with him the day before and there was a 100% chance of rain. I asked if he would want to wait until a day there would be better weather and he was very adamant that it had to happen THAT DAY. Fun fact, Brittney believes he was so set in it because he was mildly freaking out--as any man is prior to proposing. So, we met them at the monument and took some awesome photos of them in the rain that I still adore to this day!
Now, let's fast forward to their wedding day! Leading up to this day has been such a fun ride. We've been working with these two since the day of their engagement on January 9, 2016 so they truly feel like family to us. Though, this journey has not been an easy one for these two and their loved ones. Thursday morning (just two days before the big day), Brittney texted me to inform me of the sudden loss of her stepfather, Don. Don had been a part of Brittney's life since she was a little girl. Needless to say, I was speechless and completely heartbroken for her, Cody and their loved ones. Michael and I knew we wanted to include him still in some way, as much as we could. Thankfully, Brittney's mother had brought a framed image of him so that we could make sure Brittney still received some memories with him. The amount of love felt for Brittney and Cody was absolutely breathtaking and their families made sure that this was still a happy, joyous occasion for them. In place of Brittney's dance with Don, she shared a special dance with her mother, sister and brothers. There was not a dry eye in the room, including ours. We have no doubt that Don was with each and every one of them today.
Brittney did not miss a single detail in her planning! Everything was perfection! If you walked around the reception, you could hear people say, "this all is so wonderful and very Brittney!" She made sure to show off her and Cody's love through framed images and a beautiful canvas (from their engagement session!) that her mother gifted them. Little details included a large handwritten welcome sign, typewriter with a note from the couple, an elaborate cake/cupcake table as well as so many others. From the minute we pulled up to the venue, we could tell that this day was going to be perfect (no matter the weather)! The Corner House Bed & Breakfast was an absolute dream venue! The home has been fixed up to be a chic farmhouse while it sits on acres of gorgeous land with a large barn at the back of the property where the ceremony and reception were held. We took full advantage of the stunning details at this venue as well as it's amazing natural window light.
Overall, this day was perfect. Everything that could go wrong did but that did not keep this amazing couple down. They rolled with the punches, kept the faith and loved hard. We feel so blessed that we were able to share in this beautiful day and capture these lifelong memories for a couple so deserving of beauty and life. Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Cheatham! We can't wait to work with you two lovebirds again! Have a wonderful time on your honeymoon in St. Lucia and take LOTS of pictures!
