If you are looking for a dreamy spot for an upscale engagement, these are our favorite “city” spots to capture that vision.

This spot in the center of Carmel is beautiful year round thanks to the architecture and manicured gardens. Pictured above was an overcast, rainy evening that turned out SO magical even though the weather wasn’t ideal. Sunrise is my favorite time to photograph this spot but evening sessions are always lovely as well, especially if there’s some beautiful golden sun shining through. This is our absolute favorite upscale location on the northside! We definitely recommend semi-formal to formal attire!

One of Indy’s most photogenic buildings is an engagement and wedding day hotspot for a reason! The gorgeous building brings upscale charm to each photo, especially with those golden doors. We schedule engagement sessions for Sunday mornings before the memorial opens so that our clients don’t have to fight for the spotlight or parking. We definitely recommend semi-formal to formal attire!

This beautiful Carmel park has bits of architectural charm sprinkled throughout the manicured grounds. We find that early morning and sunset sessions all capture beautifully. Only downside to this location is it is POPULAR and is often very busy with locals walking/biking and other photoshoots happening. We also have to work with the Ritz on date selection to avoid interferring with weddings held there. We definitely recommend semi-formal attire!

Potter’s Bridge Park

My favorite park for fall and winter sessions—hands down! Not only is it a great late season option thanks to the thick masses of trees, but it literally SHINES for spring and summer sessions! If you’re looking for lush greens and a sparkling river, this is the place for you.

A wet month that helps us to see the beginnings of spring in way of moss that awakens first within this park.

Early in the month after a lot of rain, the river had flooded most of the park. It made for some very unique and lovely reflections that matched her dress!

Later in the month when the river had gone back down and the park had dried up after the rainy season.

A month that fills the park with vibrant, lush greens.

Humid and hazy, this month provides deeper tones to the lush greens.

During a year with little to no color, a wet October can be quite lovely, offering deep greens that add a moody effect.

N O V E M B E R

Probably my favorite month at this park! The weeks leading up to Thanksgiving hold a bit of that fall color while large Sycamore leaves litter the ground, allowing extra light to peek through! The muted tones always photograph so beautifully!

During a wet month, you’ll find deeper tones around the park that offer a unique moody effect.

During a dry spell in December, the park offers dreamy crystal clear water and pastel neutral tones.

Strawtown at Koteewi Park

If you want that dreamy sunrise session as the sun rises up from the horizon and fills the sky with light, this is your place! Not only is it empty at that hour, it offers truly beautiful wide-open skies. This is one of my favorite parks for snow, spring and summer sessions! If you want wildflowers, this is your place. If you want a wide open “Pride & Prejudice” clearing filled with hills and lush trees…this is your place! I recommend sunrise sessions for early spring and winter sessions. Evenings are recommended for late spring and summer sessions.

Nothing is more magical than the snow at sunrise. This is one of my favorite spots for snow sessions!

A P R I L

This month reflects a park still awakening from it’s winter nap. Soft tones mix with the beginnings of green grasses.

M A Y

Much like April, May is slow to grow at this park since majority of the native plants are summer lovers. Unlike May, you will find more grass and leaves!

J U N E

Vibrant, lush greens speckled with wildflowers and clovers in the grass. This is the most “true toned” month.

Later in the month, we still see lots of sweet clovers scatterted throughout the grass as well as an almost fall-like golden hour that warms the clearing.

The heat of july brings all the dreamy haze to mix with the beautiful wildflowers.

The start of september says goodbye to the wildflowers and hello to the warm golden glow of the yarrow plant. Sunrise is still my favorite for the beginning of this month thanks to the hazy glow!

Warm golden evenings morph into colorful skies. The romance gained from this clearing is truly Austen worthy.

During a colorful season, you will find the park filled with various leaves in yellow, orange and green.

Flowing Well Park

A tried and true (and the one I frequented most as a child) is located on the east side of Carmel. It has a trickling creek running straight through and is home to the most beautiful bridges in town. The masses of trees make you feel like you have truly left the city while the white well makes for a cute photo-op spot also. My favorite season to photograph here is late fall but spring is a close second!

Founders Park

Just around the corner from Flowing Well is another beautiful park! This park is unique because it has not only wildflowers and sycamore trees lining the trails, but also a sea of bamboo! Bamboo is so dreamy when photographed, especially when the grasses surrounding it are pretty dry. This is why my favorite months to photograph sessions at this park are August and September! Forewarning, it gets HOT and you don’t really notice until it hits you. Please be sure to bring a water with you to stay hydrated if selecting a session during a warm season!
