Your wedding is one of the most special events of your life
so we are happy to answer your questions as you plan.
It is our main goal to be an asset to you and a trusted member of your wedding planning team.
Our experiences from years of expertise in the wedding industry are here to help you plan your dream day.
When the golden light perfectly illuminates you and the dreamy setting we are in.
When a gentle breeze billows the veil and lifts stray tendrils of hair.
When it is just you and your love—steps away from the festivities but enjoying the peace of being ONE.
That is where we find the magic.
But it also doesn’t just happen. Thoughtful preparation, planning, timelines, location scouting and styling all come together to create it. But, we still need your help to really make magic happen. Our best work is done when we are able to be our most creative selves while capturing your true love by your ability to be fully present in the moment and vulnerable in your emotions.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is your pricing?
Every celebration is different and comes with its own set of unique needs. Because of this, we quote every wedding, elopement, and portrait session on an individual basis. That said, our full service wedding collections begin at an investment of $2,850. Contact us to receive a more specific outline of your investment once we know more about your needs.
Can I customize a collection?
Absolutely! We will happily tailor any collection to better suit your celebration. Please email us your wish list. We will follow up with a bespoke collection for your review.
Is travel/accommodation included in your pricing?
Travel is included in the pricing for our stateside collections. As each wedding is unique, we love to learn about your destination and celebration before we discuss travel plans. If we find that the travel plans would exceed our estimated amount included in the package, we will send you a quote for the additional travel fees. We customize our quotes based on the location and number of shooting days. The travel quote is added to your selected collection. In addition, we handle all of our own travel arrangements unless otherwise specified.
How do I confirm my wedding date?
Once you’ve selected your package, we will email our photography contract for your review as well as an invoice for the 50 percent photography retainer. We ask that you return both within about a week to ensure your date remains available. Once we receive your contract and the 50 percent photography retainer, your wedding date is officially booked! The final balance is due one month prior to your wedding date.
Do you work with a second shooter?
Yes! My husband, Michael, is my business partner and fellow adventurer. We photograph all weddings as a team. Throughout the day, Michael serves as a second set of eyes and hands. He is much more than a second shooter. He transitions from shooting the groom’s “getting ready” to pivotal moments like the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception decor, specialty dances, cake cutting, etc. Depending on the scale of the event, we bring on additional shooters or assistants as needed.
What is your approach in capturing the wedding story?
We are very hands-on. When setting up a wedding day timeline, our goal is to ensure that you have the best natural light for every part of your celebration. We also prefer to help build the timeline together with your planner and designer to give you plenty of time to capture all of your desired portraits and photographs throughout the day with buffers to ensure you have a smooth and enjoyable experience. We balance art directing, styled detail shots and portraits, all while capturing the moments that happen organically through photojournalistic coverage. The end result yields a beautiful balance of people, details and emotion.
What equipment do you use?
We shoot with Nikon digital cameras with an array of Sigma Art and Nikkor lenses. You may catch us using a film camera or two depending on the setting—film is Kat’s first love! We always bring camera, lens, and memory card backups.
What happens if Kat gets sick or has some sort of emergency right before the wedding?
Having an emergency come up immediately before a wedding is a circumstance we have yet to encounter (knock on wood)—and an unpleasant thought for everyone involved. Leading up to a wedding, we plan our lives carefully to ensure our health is in top form and that we have ample travel time. Should unforeseen circumstances prevent us from attending your wedding, we will do our best to arrange a replacement photographer of equivalent caliber and style—we have a strong network to aid in such an unlikely circumstance. Kat would still be the one editing the images to ensure that romantic style that drew you to her portfolio in the first place.
Should I make a "shot list" of my desired photos?
Our thorough and detail oriented approach ensures you’ll have more photos than you could ever need or want, but we do recommend bringing to our attention any special people, planned moments, or unique details you’d like to capture that we might not know to anticipate. We provide a pre-wedding questionnaire after our final meeting (abut one month prior to the wedding) that includes a space for you to lay out your family portrait list. On the wedding day, please have the rings, dress, shoes, jewelry and any other heirlooms you’d like in the photos in the bridal suite. We will spend the first hour of our coverage shooting your details and final hair/makeup if applicable.
Who should be included in our family photos?
We will first photograph you with your immediate family members (parents and siblings) and grandparents (if applicable) during the allotted formal family time (typically 20-30 minutes). If you have groupings outside of immediate family, we suggest you provide these details at the time of the timeline designing so we can schedule our time accordingly. Additionally, please inform us of any special groupings due to family circumstances (i.e divorce, stepparents, etc) so that we can appropriately welcome and recognize all of the meaningful relationships in your life while allotting enough time for these portraits.
Do the proofs and online gallery include all of the images you take or do you provide a limited number of images?
The final images we send as proofs and post in the online gallery (typically 50-100 per hour of coverage) are a curated selection based on content and composition. We include only the highest quality images from each setup angle. Omitted images may include blinking, unflattering expressions or blur. All final images receive color corrections and exposure adjustments before we present them in the online gallery.
Although your work stands out in natural light, how does it fair in dark lighting situations?
As much as we love natural light and how it adheres to our dreamy editing style, we are always prepared with our flashes for darker venues. Now, keep in mind, most churches do not allow flash photography or additional lighting. Thankfully, we work with cameras that do very well in low lighting situations on their own and we are able to brighten up images in post-processing.
How many images will we get?
Typically, we curate 50-100 final images per hour of coverage. Each wedding day is different—some include more portraits and details while others are more minimal. Our goal, rather than setting a set number of images, is to include as many moments and details as possible to make it feel like you are reliving your day while scrolling through your gallery.
What are image turnaround times?
Our work is focused on creating exquisite art using the finest methods which requires many hours of hands on editing. Therefore, our turnaround times for engagement and portrait sessions average 6 to 8 weeks. Turnaround times for wedding galleries is 10-12 weeks with a preview blog post with a collection of our favorites posted within the week after the wedding.
How do you ensure that you stay on schedule during the day?
Staying on schedule is one of the most important factors of our work. We plan carefully with your wedding planner or coordinator to create a custom minute-by-minute photo timeline for each event. Adhering to our photo timeline ensures that we are able to capture every incredible moment and detail of your celebration in optimal lighting conditions during our allotted time with you on your big day. We always do everything in our power to stay on track with the timeline and we highly recommend hiring other professionals who value that as well. We have curated a detailed vendor guide of professionals who have proven to be exemplary in their craft.
What if it rains? What if we have to reschedule/relocate due to weather or natural disaster?
While rain on your wedding day is considered lucky—it's certainly not what we hope for. That said, we've navigated the challenges weather can pose time and time again, and some of our proudest work is from rainy celebrations. We work together with your wedding planner to come up with a strong Plan B—and even a Plan C if possible. Ultimately, in these circumstances, this is when our experience, expertise and resourcefulness pay off. Should inclimate weather threaten your wedding day to the point of needing to reschedule—each wedding and each situation is unique, and that's how we handle them. But know this, we’re your partner and friend through it all.
